Candy Davis (Ph.D., physical) has now completed her third year in the Ph.D. program in the SIU Department of Anthropology.  She had an enjoyable trip attending the AAPA Meetings in Milwaukee in the spring with other graduate students in the department.  Over the summer, she completed the final draft of her Proposal and continues to build her bibliographies.  She is at present recuperating from the last of three surgeries and doing fairly well.  This semester (Fall 2005), Candy is teaching ANTH 202, America’s Diverse Cultures, for the second time and has three excellent TAs, Zachary Gillmore, Lanell Matt, Heston Roop to teach her discussion sections.  Over the past year, Candy has mastered the Smart Board equipment in her classrooms and the art of making good PowerPoint lectures.  She plans to attend the Proposal Workshop offered October 21st to learn more about grant writing, continue to build her bibliographies, and work on her Dissertation Prospectus, targeting late spring semester to take her candidacy exams if all goes well.
